3 games, 3 wins.

The San Antonio Spurs extended their unbeaten start to the Las Vegas Summer League to three after beating the New Orleans Pelicans 90-85 in a Tuesday night affair in Sin City.

In what was a close encounter all the way through, the Summer Spurs made just enough shots late to stave off the pesky Pelicans.

With #4 Overall Pick Stephon Castle out for the rest of the week, the Silver & Black relied heavily on a collective team approach to pull themselves within reaching distance of the Summer League playoffs.

The Pelicans had a few notable names on their roster, with 2023 lottery pick and sharpshooter, Jordan Hawkins as their standout along with 2024 first rounder, Yves Missi. They also had former Summer Spur and Two-Way Austin Spur, Jordan Hall in their starting group.

Observations:

  • Jamaree ‘Clutch’ Bouyea continued his stellar summer play with another collection of eye-popping shots late in the game to help the Spurs claim victory. The pick of the lot was when Bouyea hit a heavily contested step back three with under one minute to play with the game tied to give the Spurs a final lead which they wouldn’t surrender.

  • Harrison Ingram had a good night from the perimeter, burying three triples on five attempts. Ingram is vying for one of the last Two-Way spots and his future as an NBA rotation player will depend heavily on if he can knock down the outside shot with some consistency.
  • The standout player on the Spurs in this one was 6’7 Wing, Riley Minix. The undrafted player out of Morehead State showed out with 16 points which included four triples while dishing out 4 assists with zero turnovers .

  • Yauhen Massalski has arguably been one of the more consistent players on the Spurs the past few weeks with his rebounding and inside scoring showing up once again in this one. Massalski played for the Austin Spurs in 23-24 and is showcasing himself nicely for another run with the team in 2025. The 6’9 Forward had 7 points and 10 rebounds in just 17 minutes of play.
  • It was a triple win for the Silver & Black on Tuesday night, with not only the Summer Spurs moving to 3-0 in the Las Vegas Summer League, but it was announced via Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania respectively, the Spurs were bringing back both Sandro Mamukelashvilli and Charles Bassey to the team for the 2024/2025 season.
