It was an eventful week for Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. Not only did Wembanyama become the first rookie ever to be named All-Defensive First Team, but he also made the All-Rookie First Team. If you’re counting the awards at home, that’s three major accolades Wemby collected in his rookie season.

Before we all completely shift our focus to the offseason and beyond, we asked our readers to pick their favorite moments from Wembanyama’s rookie season. Here are the results from the latest survey.

In somewhat of an upset win, Wembanyama’s dominant performance against the Knicks later in the season impressed our readers the most. Being one of the few players to post a 5 x 5 stat line came in second place. Wembanyama had an elite offensive game inside and out against New York. It was all the more satisfying after Wembanyama struggled at Madison Square Garden earlier that season.

All of the Wembanyama doubters pointed to the same narrative when discussing why he’d fail in his rookie season. “He’s going to get pummeled by Giannis, Jokic and Embiid.” We never really saw that come to fruition in his rookie season. Sure Wembanyama is slender and can get pushed off his spot, but stronger players didn’t truly dominate him.

This block on Giannis was one of those “he has arrived” moments. Blocking one of the best players in the league in the clutch, all the while being at a strength disadvantage. This is truly one of the most impressive plays from Wembanyama’s season.

Wembanyama’s historic rookie season culminated in becoming the first rookie to make All-Defensive First Team. Being name a unanimous Rookie of the Year is impressive, but his All-Defensive First Team nod is historic. Wembanyama is going to be a defensive force near the basket for years to come.
