VfB Stuttgart delivered a dominant performance, with Jamie Leweling scoring twice to secure a commanding 4-0 victory over struggling VfL Wolfsburg at the MHPArena.

VfB Stuttgart continued their impressive Bundesliga campaign. They put four goals past a hapless VfL Wolfsburg side on Sunday afternoon. The result further cemented Stuttgart’s push for European qualification. Wolfsburg, meanwhile, remain deep in the relegation zone.

Stuttgart entered the match in fourth place, boasting strong form with three wins in their last five league outings. Wolfsburg’s situation was dire, sitting 17th after a run of four losses in five games. This set the stage for a clash of contrasting fortunes.

The hosts quickly took control of possession and created early chances. Wolfsburg’s struggles mounted when D. Bauer received a yellow card in the 19th minute. Just two minutes later, Deniz Undav broke the deadlock. He slotted home a goal in the 21st minute following a precise pass from Ermedin Demirovic.

Stuttgart doubled their lead in the 30th minute. Jamie Leweling found the net, assisted by Chris Fuhrich. Leweling then completed his double just before half-time. He extended Stuttgart’s lead to 3-0 in the 42nd minute with another well-taken finish.

Wolfsburg’s manager faced a huge task at the break. His team needed a dramatic shift in performance. Stuttgart, conversely, looked comfortable and lethal.

Wolfsburg made three changes at the restart, hoping to ignite a comeback. Substitutes L. Majer, M. Amoura, and A. Daghim entered the fray in the 46th minute. Despite these changes, Stuttgart maintained their composure. They managed the game effectively.

Stuttgart introduced L. Jaquez and N. Nartey later in the half. Bilal El Khannouss received a yellow card for Stuttgart in the 88th minute. The home side then sealed their comprehensive win. Nikolas Nartey scored in the 90+5th minute to make it 4-0.

Stuttgart’s dominance showed in the statistics. They registered an impressive 2.98 Expected Goals (xG). They also had 23 total shots, with 10 on target. Wolfsburg managed just 0.8 xG from 10 shots, only three of which tested Alexander Nübel. VfB Stuttgart held 63% ball possession. Wolfsburg goalkeeper Kamil Grabara made 7 saves, preventing an even larger defeat.

This resounding victory sees VfB Stuttgart solidify their position in the top four. They continue their impressive push for a Champions League spot. For VfL Wolfsburg, the defeat piles on more pressure. They face a desperate battle to avoid relegation in the coming weeks.
