The conference semifinals are set

Rarely do I get amped up for games that feature two teams not named the Spurs. I generally fade out in the post season in the years since the Silver & Black broke their historic twenty-two years run.

But this year watching the Spurs shape their future with multiple improvements, I take an academic interest in how the twenty-nine other teams will look against them.

The Spurs missed the Emirates Cup quarterfinals. In my humble opinion, it was due to an off night. Had they won, they would be in the heat of the competition.

As it turns out, I watched the Bucks and Magic but fell asleep during OKC and Dallas. As I write this I am enjoying the Knicks and Hawks and have set the DVR for the Warriors and Rockets, tonight’s second and final quarterfinal game.

The Knicks are poised for some greatness over the next couple of seasons. Jalen Brunson is a bonafide star who shined bright immediately after being traded from Dallas. Moving from back up point guard to the man at the helm has showcased his talent and New York is a great fit for him.

Despite an off night for Brunson and the Knicks, they have a lot of momentum in the Eastern Conference.

I am sincerely hopeful that there could be an NBA Finals in the next couple of years to feature our Spurs and these Knicks. A return to the 1999 NBA Finals matchup.

Imagine- Wemby vs. KAT. Brunson facing off against Castle.

I’m definitely becoming more vested in the league overall.

Are you enjoying the Emirates Cup this year? Or is it an inconsequential diversion from the regular season?
