A spot to take you back…way back

I saw this posted on social media the other day and it really took me back.

In 1986, the Spurs were coming off their second losing season in three years. These were the dark years for the Spurs. They had fired Cotton Fitzsimmons and hired Bob Weiss. The Silver & Black signed six rookies to go with an aging Artis Gilmore and NBA Defensive Player of the Year Alvin Robertson.

They needed to boost morale and gets some spectators into the arena.

The video features familiar faces from the era including Henry Cisneros, mayor from 1981-1989, Archbishop Patrick Flores, who spent twenty-five years in that role, and local newscasters. The interior of the HemisFair is always nostalgic.

Hope you enjoy this slice of Spurs history as much as I did.
