The Chicago Bulls took on the Washington Wizards in their home opener on Saturday. Although Caleb Wilson soared, finishing with a double-double of 30 points and 14 rebounds, the Bulls lost 124-120.
However, Wilson showed signs that he indeed can meet or even exceed expectations. Over the course of the first three games, Wilson put up points that put him in the same category as Michael Jordan, no kidding, per Novig. Wilson is now second in points scored through the first three games for a new player with 67. Jordan is first with 74.
CHICAGO BULLS HISTORY
Caleb Wilson has scored 67 points through his first three NBA games, the SECOND-MOST by any player in Bulls history.
The only player ahead of him? Michael Jordan with 74. https://t.co/w9A6jmvXOe pic.twitter.com/458LhF2UxP

Wilson also matched Jordan’s numbers in his first two NBA games. Both scored 16 points in their first game and 21 in their second.
At this point, it could be tantalizing to put Wilson in the same category as Jordan, even though he is just getting started and Jordan’s legacy needs no explanation. Still, some similarities are worth noting.
For instance, Wilson and Jordan hail out of North Carolina. Both were sensations at Chapel Hill. Jordan was the National Player of the Year in 1984. Meanwhile, Wilson was a second-team All-American in his one year at North Carolina.
Moreover, the Bulls drafted Jordan in 1984 with the No. 3 pick in one of the most consequential drafts in NBA history. Fast forward to 2026, and Wilson was selected No. 4 among one of the best draft classes in recent memory. When Jordan was drafted, he was the solo star for a poor team. Wilson is seen as the savior for a team that has endured years of repeated stagnation.
The Bulls will play the Boston Celtics on Monday, October 26, in Boston.
