Josh Allen needs one touchdown to break Bills record shared by legends
Josh Allen is one touchdown away from standing alone in Buffalo Bills history.
Allen enters Sunday's game against the New England Patriots tied with Andre Reed and Thurman Thomas for the most touchdowns from scrimmage in franchise history.
All three have 87.
Allen's next rushing or receiving touchdown will give him the record by himself.
He caught Reed and Thomas by scoring twice on the ground in Buffalo's 24-16 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Allen scored on a 1-yard run just before halftime, then added another 1-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Bills their first lead of the game. That second score gave Allen 87 touchdowns from scrimmage in his Bills career.
Reed scored 87 touchdowns during his 15 seasons with Buffalo. Thomas scored 87 during his 12 seasons with the Bills.
Allen is there in Year 9.
Reed scored 86 receiving touchdowns and added one rushing score. Thomas had 65 rushing touchdowns and 22 receiving scores.
Allen has 85 rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns.
The 225 touchdown passes Allen has thrown in his career do not count toward this record.
Those are passing touchdowns. The franchise record counts touchdowns scored from scrimmage, meaning the player who actually gets into the end zone on an offensive play.
Allen entered this season with 79 rushing touchdowns through his first eight seasons, an average of 9.9 per year.
Three games into 2026, he already has six more.
Allen has rushed for two touchdowns in each of Buffalo's first three games, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to open a season with three straight games of multiple rushing scores. Only Jim Brown, Stephen Davis and Priest Holmes had ever done it before him.
Allen already owns the NFL record for career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.
His 85 rushing scores also have him tied with former Bills running back Marshawn Lynch for 17th on the NFL's all-time list among all players.
Another rushing touchdown Sunday would therefore move Allen past Lynch, tie Priest Holmes at No. 16 all-time and give him the Bills record for touchdowns from scrimmage.
