1 dead after single-vehicle crash in Dimmit County, DPS says

A man died after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning in Dimmit County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Troopers responded to the crash around 5:26 a.m. on U.S. Highway 83 near Mile Marker 654, which is around 18 miles south of Carrizo Springs near Catarina, Texas.

Upon arrival, troopers said they found a driver, later identified as 34-year-old Larry Antonio White, injured and an overturned truck-tractor in the northbound lane.

Authorities assessed White for his injuries and later rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, DPS said.

Investigators said White was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 83 in a 2023 white Freightliner truck-tractor when he failed to negotiate a curve at a safe speed.

The situation caused the truck-tractor to overturn. At this time, DPS said the crash remains under investigation.
