New Spurs mural celebrates team’s past and future at San Antonio collectibles shop

A new mural inside Boomtown Sports Cards and Collectibles is giving Spurs fans another way to celebrate the franchise’s legacy — and its future.

San Antonio mural artist J.C. Gómez-Molina brought the piece to life, which brings together multiple eras of Spurs basketball.

The mural features franchise legends Tim Duncan and David Robinson alongside current Spurs players Stephon Castle, Victor Wembanyama, Dylan Harper, Devin Vassell and Julian Champagnie.

The artwork also depicts the moment featured on the NBA 2K27 cover, showing Wembanyama helping clinch a playoff spot for San Antonio and ending the franchise’s long postseason drought.

Gómez-Molina spoke about bringing the project to life and the meaning behind honoring both the Spurs’ championship history and their promising young core.

“It’s amazing for me. I’m a huge fan — I’ve always been,” Gómez-Molina said. “We’ve been struggling for the past 10 or 12 years, but now it feels like it’s our time again.”

“A lot of years — as you can tell, I’m old,” Gómez-Molina said with a laugh when asked what goes into creating murals like this. “A lot of experience, picking up things from other artists and helping each other out.”

The mural is now on display inside Boomtown Sports Cards and Collectibles, where Spurs fans can stop by and see the tribute in person.
