Game Thread: San Antonio Spurs vs Miami Heat

The Spurs need more consistent execution to beat the Heat

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

The Spurs are who they are this year. DeMar DeRozan is one of the best offensive players in the league this year, but they are not a cohesive unit. They can rout the Bucks on a good night, but then they can also play just part of a game and fall to a hungry but bad Hawks squad at home when the visitor executes down the stretch and the Silver and Black falls apart. It’s Pop’s job to get the team to play together, and today’s game is the halfway point of the season, so it’s getting late early. Dejounte Murray, whose defensive lapses were key in the Hawks loss, will be out today with illness. [UPDATE: he’s available!]. so it’s up to Derrick White and Patty Mills to try and turn things around against the Heat, who beat the Spurs last week when Kendrick Nunn went off for a career high 33 points. The good guys are going to have to perform better to have a chance at a win in San Antonio this afternoon. Go SPURS GooOOOoo!!
