Alaves languished in sixteenth place with just 36 points, desperate for points to ease their relegation concerns. The home side’s recent form showed promise with a win-draw-draw-loss-win record, but they faced a visiting team determined to climb the table.

Alaves struck first with Antonio Blanco firing home in the eighth minute. The early goal gave the home crowd hope and suggested a competitive encounter ahead. However, Athletic Club responded with intensity and control as the half progressed.

Robert Navarro equalized for Athletic Club just after the restart, scoring in the 46th minute to level the match at 1-1. The away side’s superior possession and passing accuracy began to show their class. Athletic Club controlled the tempo and created the better chances.

Nahuel Tenaglia restored Alaves’ lead in the 68th minute with a well-taken goal. The home side appeared to have found their rhythm when they went ahead 2-1. Yet Athletic Club refused to panic and quickly turned the tide.

Oihan Sancet equalized in the 74th minute to make it 2-2. The substitute made an immediate impact after entering the pitch. From that moment, Athletic Club took control of the match.

Nico Williams proved decisive in the closing stages. The winger scored in the 83rd minute to put Athletic Club ahead 3-2. Williams then added his second goal in the 87th minute, sealing a 4-2 victory with a clinical finish.

Williams delivered a standout performance with a rating of 8.9. The Athletic Club attacker created chances for teammates while finding the net twice. His pace and movement troubled Alaves’ defense throughout the second half.

Athletic Club dominated the statistics despite the competitive scoreline. The visitors completed 387 passes with 82% accuracy compared to Alaves’ 378 passes at 78%. Athletic Club took nine total shots with four on target, while Alaves managed seven shots with four on target.
