4 injured after seven-vehicle crash involving wrong-way driver on Northeast Side, SAPD says

Four people were hospitalized after a seven-vehicle collision on the Northeast Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The crash happened around 5:16 p.m. Saturday in the 15000 block of Nacogdoches Road involving a wrong-way driver.

An SAPD preliminary report states the driver of a 2019 black Chevrolet Colorado was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed in the northbound lanes of Nacogdoches Road.

The driver then ran a red light at Judson Road and struck one vehicle, police said.

The Chevrolet was then redirected and struck six additional vehicles, the report states.

Police at the scene told KSAT the Chevrolet hit another vehicle, sending it airborne into other vehicles.

One of the vehicles flipped over, trapping the driver inside and causing serious injuries, the report states.

Three drivers of the struck vehicles were taken to local hospitals for treatment, along with the driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, the report states.

Police at the scene said the four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, with the person driving the Chevrolet that ran the red light sustaining a broken collarbone and a broken shoulder.
