Driver arrested following three-vehicle crash on Southeast Side, authorities say

A driver was arrested after a pursuit that ended in a three-vehicle crash Friday, according to authorities.

The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. near the intersection of Pecan Valley Drive and East Southcross Boulevard, which is not far from South Side Lions Park.

Homeland Security Task Force San Antonio arrested the suspect as part of a “joint narcotics enforcement action” with other agencies, HSTF said, noting the suspect is a U.S. citizen.

Authorities said San Antonio police initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger, but the suspect fled, prompting Texas Department of Public Safety officers to pursue.

Troopers said they began the pursuit near the intersection of Old Seguin Road and Gibbs Sprawl Road in Kirby.

“The suspect drove recklessly,” HSTF said, before colliding with a Dodge Ram and a Tesla sedan.

No injuries were reported, and the driver of the Dodge Charger was taken into custody.

The suspect has not been identified by authorities. He is in federal custody on multiple federal charges, HSTF said.
