The father and young son found dead at Phil Hardberger Park were found with stab wounds, which suggests a murder-suicide, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the father as 34-year-old Duniel Arjona Soto on Thursday afternoon.
The medical examiner’s office said that Soto died from a stab wound to the chest, but the manner of death is not yet available.
The 1-year-old son has not yet been identified by the medical examiner’s office.
Police arrived just after 8 p.m. Wednesday to the 13200 block of Blanco Road after a person called and said their family member told them he wanted to kill himself and his child.
The caller found Soto and his 1-year-old son unresponsive in the back of the parking lot by the dog park, according to SAPD.
Officers arrived and confirmed both Soto and son had stab wounds, SAPD said.
Preliminary reports suggest Soto killed his 1-year-old son before stabbing himself, SAPD said.
The investigation is ongoing, and details could change depending on further findings.
