If you wait for tomorrow to follow your dreams, by the time that you get there they’re gone.

It’s been a season of injuries and health concerns for the Spurs: from Coach Gregg Popovich to Jeremy Sochan to Devin Vassell and now Victor Wembanyama. Nevertheless, the basketball continues to bounce, and the team did not waver as they put together an inspired win against the Phoenix Suns.

De’Aaron Fox led the team with 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. He also added a pair of steals and blocks apiece, showing off his prowess on the defensive end.

Christ Paul notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists against his former team while also moving into sole possession of second place on the all-time NBA steals leader board behind Mr. Utah Jazz and muse for Kendrick Lamar, John Stockton.

Rookie Stephon Castle (and my and your dunk champion, wink wink) continued his strong inaugural campaign with a double-double in points (10) and rebounds (10).

You could put Keldon Johnson in a padded soundproof room and you would still be able to feel the floor shake and hear him yell because dude’s energy cannot be contained. KJ continued his strong play off the bench, scoring 15 points on Thursday night.

I don’t know why, but Jeremy Sochan seems like the type of guy who will walk around Austin City Limits picking up litter and helping people find the hydration station while jamming out to Hozier on the Samsung Galaxy stage.

Here, Chris Paul is too sweet and took me to church with this perfect pass to Sochan who found open space for the electric jam.

Welcome to the San Antonio Spurs, Bismack Biyombo! Stay awhile and have a dunk or two.

Hey remember when the Spurs traded for De’Aaron Fox and did not have to give up Stephon Castle or Devin Vassell or Jeremy Sochan? This Fox to Castle assist for the rousing dunk is a nice reminder.

I’m not a fan of this shaky cam perspective: it looks like someone had one too many Tito’s before the game. That being said, it’s a nice angle to see Harrison Barnes dicing his way through the defense for a reverse layup.

Perhaps rejuvenated by the fountain of youth that is the NBA All-Star Skills Challenge, Chris Paul the elder statesman showed off some young moves like Willie Nelson on a 24-song marathon set and found Jeremy Sochan for a high-flying backwards dunk.

If you missed the game because you were too busy on WebMD researching “deep vein thrombosis,” here are the full-game highlights:

Next up, the Spurs remain in the Live Music Capital of the World to take on the Motown Pistons on Friday, February 21, 2025.
