Another player whose father has ties to the NBA

The Spurs Summer League features Sidy Cissoko, who is heading into second year in the NBA. The roster also introduces fans to the Spurs latest draftees Stephon Castle and Harrison Ingram.

There are also two-way players Jamaree Bouyea, David Duke, Jr., and RaiQuan Gray, as well as G-League affiliate members Luke Avdalovic and Yauhen Massalski.

For longtime basketball fans, a familiar name is on this list, but in junior form.

Jameer Nelson, Jr., who just completed his NCAA career with TCU after transferring for his final season, was named All- Big 12 Honorable Mention for his efforts with the Horned Frogs. ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported that “Nelson Jr. was one of the best guards in the portal.” He signed to the Spurs for Summer League after going undrafted this year.

The twenty-two-year-old transferred to TCU from the University of Delaware, where he and the Blue Hens were the 2022 CAA Champions.

His father, the current GM for the G-League Delaware Blue Coats, was the 20th draft pick in 2004. Originally drafted by the Denver Nuggets, he was traded to the Orlando Magic, where he played his first ten season, garnering All-Star status in 2009.

Nelson, Jr. has played two games for the Spurs coming off the bench in limited minutes scoring a combined 11 points.

The Spurs play their third game in the California Classic Summer League against the Chinese National Team tonight at 5:00 PM. The game is available on NBA TV.
