Open Thread: Luka Doncic playing at a high level while riddled with injuries
The Mavs need to bounce back in Dallas
Luka Doncic, the star of the Dallas Mavericks, is playing some the best basketball of his career. And he’s been riddled with nagging issues throughout the playoffs. Doncic has been dealing with a chest contusion (listed as thoracic contusion), a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness.
This season, Doncic averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists while making a heavy play for Most Valuable Player.
In Game 1 Doncic put up 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 assist.
In Game 2, he logged 32 points, 11 boards, and 11 dimes.
If he’s knocking out triple-doubles at less than 100%, can you imagine a full-blown, Finals MVP caliber Doncic could be doing with zero physical pain?
No matter what, he can’t be the only bright star to light up the Celtics. Doncic is going to need some help. It’ll be interesting to see if playing back at home offers any benefits.
