Wan Bissaka Singles Out City Ace As The Toughest Opponent He Has Faced This Season

Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has named Raheem Sterling as the toughest opponent he has faced since he moved to Old Trafford.

The £50m summer signing has come up against the likes of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Spurs’s Son Heung-Min this campaign but after facing the City winger on a number of occasions, the right-back said that Sterling’s persistence was his standout quality:

“I’d say Raheem Sterling; those are the battles I’ve enjoyed the most. He keeps going, just keeps on coming at you. Doesn’t matter if he doesn’t get past you in one challenge, he keeps coming back for more every time.”

Sterling’s work rate is very underrated at times, and Wan-Bissaka is right to highlight the 25-year-old’s drive and determination to succeed. Manager Pep Guardiola has made big improvements in his tactical knowledge and technical quality, but his attitude is also second to none.

It must be said that Sterling failed to score in his four appearances against United this season, but with Wan-Bissaka just 22 years of age, the two players will likely have a fair few more tussles in Manchester derbies over the next few years.
