Tony Parker helps Spurs outlast the Mavs in season opener.

The Spurs looked to regain their championship form Tuesday with the season opened against the Mavs and from the start both teams got off to a sluggish start. The Spurs committed five turnovers in the first eight minutes of the game and missed their first three shots before returning to the fluid ball movement we are so accustomed to seeing. The third quarter got a little heated and saw both Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler given technical fouls about a minute apart by official Jason Phillips. In a very tight scoring fourth quarter Tony Parker made a go ahead 3 pointer with 1:07 left on the clock that gave the Spurs the edge over the Mavs with a 101-100 victory in highly competitive contest.  Tony Parker had 23 points, Manu Ginobili had 20 and Tim Duncan finished the game with 14 points and 13 rebounds for his 14th double-double in the season opener. The Mavs top scorer was Monta Ellis who had 26 points and Dirk Nowitzki had 18 followed by Devin Harris who finished with 17 points.
