Tim Duncan is helping the Virgin Islands, and would like your help

As J.J. Watt is to Houston: Tim Duncan is to the V.I.

Those of us here on Pounding the Rock and San Antonio fans everywhere have always called Tim Duncan the heart of the San Antonio Spurs and he is living up to that title. He penned a piece published at The Players’ Tribune asking people to help the U.S. Virgin Islands deal with the damage left behind by Hurricane Irma. Duncan is spearheading a relief mission to the U.S. Virgin Islands and started the ball rolling by donating $250,000 and offering to match donations up to the first $1 million — and gave assurances that 100% of the funds would go to relief.

Duncan set up a YouCaring crowdfund site to raising money for supplies that he will fly directly to St. Croix from San Antonio.

In his piece, Duncan describes living through Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

Duncan states that he has always admired Pop’s “say less, do more” attitude and he lives up to his mentor’s mantra.
