Tim Brown Against Tom Brady Joining The Raiders: “He’s 45”

Las Vegas Raiders legend Tim Brown recently shared his thoughts on what’s going on with his old team. In particular, Brown weighed in on one of the most polarizing topics right now: Tom Brady possibly joining the Silver and Black.

While making an appearance on “Maggie & Perloff” via CBS Sports, Brown was quite direct with the notion of Brady joining the Raiders. “Well, I think he’s starting to show that he’s 45–46 years old. His inability to move—when you look at the quarterbacks in the league today, you have very few who are pocket quarterbacks,” says Brown.

Are the Raiders & Tom Brady a disaster waiting to happen?

Tim Brown does bring up a valid point in terms of what the NFL looks like right now. Examining the final four teams still alive in the playoffs, they all possess a mobile quarterback. The closest thing to a traditional pocket passer is Joe Burrow. Even so, as Brown adds, he too can get out and make things happen with his legs. These days, if Tom Brady doesn’t get near-perfect pass production, he’ll throw fits on the sideline. This, of course, after he’s been taken to the ground on a play beforehand.

While Brown is fully cognizant of Brady’s success, his age is a major red flag at this point. For all of the Super Bowls that Brady has won, the league just isn’t the same as it was 10 years ago. Can the front office really assemble a superior O-line in just one offseason if Brady signs?

“I just think the league is moving to a point where you have to have a quarterback that’s able to move around and get some things done with his feet every once in a while.”

Judging from Brown’s comments, the Raiders need to go with a quarterback that can get things done while on the run. Jarrett Stidham showed he can do that against the best defense in the league this past season. Whether he’s a long-term option is unknown right now. In the end, the connection between Brady and the Raiders’ current brass could be the deciding factor. “Because of that relationship, I think that’s a possibility.” We’ll have to wait and see, just like everyone else.
