The Best Parts of the Spurs’ Play-In Clincher against the Knicks
The Spurs competed admirably at Madison Square Garden just a night after taking their lumps against Brooklyn. Though they weren’t able to pull off the late comeback, there were still positives to take out of the evening.
Drew Eubanks: Though San Antonio couldn’t stop the Knicks’ barrage of threes from the corners, Eubanks did his part to protect the rim against All-Star Julius Randle:
Eubanks also is becoming a more reliable rim-running big that gives the Spurs guards a capable target:
Lonnie Walker IV: Lonnie’s contributions may be crucial in a single elimination game and it’ll likely be his shooting and playmaking that would need to be the difference-maker:
But of course it is his finishing prowess that many of us want to see happen more often, too:
DeMar DeRozan: DeRozan’s contributions in the closing minutes has kept the team in so many games this season and this needs to be recognized:
Keldon Johnson: Johnson’s ability to finish in tight quarters may be the thing that keeps us close or pushes us into the lead in the upcoming play-in game. He nearly pulled it off last night:
He also became the fitfh fastest player in franchise history (behind some very familiar names) to get to 1000 career points:
Keldon reached 1,000 career points tonight!
He’s the fifth fastest Spur to reach 1K (David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Walter Berry, Willie Anderson). pic.twitter.com/5K2F2RVXuk

Speaking of which, for all of us that want the play-in to happen for our beloved Spurs, this was the best highlight of the evening from our snarky friends with Sacramento Kings twitter:
