Texans QB Deshaun Watson won’t be deposed in case against him until early 2022

Deshaun Watson’s legal situation might not be resolved until well into the 2021 NFL season.

The 22 women suing the Houston Texans quarterback for alleged sexual misconduct and assault will be deposed before Watson, who’s not scheduled until early 2022, Watson’s attorney Rusty Hardin said Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Watson can’t be deposed before Feb. 22, 2022, Fowler adds.

Hardin said Tuesday that Watson is not currently in settlement talks with the women suing him. Earlier this month, he said Tony Buzbee, the attorney for the women, has attempted to settle the case on several occasions. Buzbee denied Hardin’s claim.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Watson will not attend Texans OTAs and still wants to be traded. The star quarterback has reportedly wanted a trade since early this offseason.

Even if Watson is never criminally charged for his alleged misconduct, he could still face a lengthy NFL suspension, which might deter teams from trading for him.
