Suspect arrested in fatal shooting on Easter Sunday

A man accused of killing a woman and injuring a youth during what officials called a botched drug deal was arrested Thursday

Angel Koenigstein, 19, is charged with capital murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said. His bail totals $400,000.

On Sunday, authorities received a call at 2:58 a.m. saying there were teenagers popping fireworks and running toward a vehicle in the 11200 block of Dublin Woods, an affidavit states.

When BCSO deputies arrived, they found Christian Reitz, 20, and a juvenile wounded in a driveway, investigators said.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said Koenigstein met with Reitz and the juvenile to sell THC oil.

“Something went awry with the drug deal and the argument escalated to the point where the suspect produced a weapon and shot both of the victims,” Salazar said.

Investigators said video from a doorbell security camera shows Koenigstein pulling out a handgun and using foul language to demand items from the two.

As the two ran away, Koenigstein allegedly fired several shots at Reitz and the juvenile, officials said.

He initially attempted to fire at a third person, but for some reason, the gun did not go off, witnesses said.

Reitz was shot in the back and died at the scene, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The juvenile is expected to recover, Salazar said.

Koenigstein was arrested in November for theft under $100, as well as failure to identify himself, intentionally giving false information. His theft case was later dismissed, but he was sentenced to 32 days in jail and a fine of $500 for the other case.
