The San Antonio Spurs iconic power forward Tim Duncan has not announced he will be retiring after this year. But a Spurs insider close with the team advised that the Spurs general manager R.C. Buford is reportedly making contingency plans that may include going after Marc Gasol. The Spurs are looking to the future and it has been reported that R.C. Buford will be contacting Marc Gasol on July 1st 2015 at the stroke of midnight and make him an offer should Tim Duncan retire as expected. The other players the Spurs are interested in include LaMarcus Aldrige, Greg Monroe along with Omer Asik as viable replacements for Tim Duncan should he retire.  It’s hard to imagine life without Timmy but sooner or later he will leave the Spurs organization. Maybe it’s time we all look to the future and start preparing ourselves for the inevitable rebuilding of our beloved San Antonio Spurs.
