Multiple people were evacuated from their homes on the Northeast Side Friday night due to a gas leak caused by a shooting, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 800 block of Chipping Drive for a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies say they could smell gas in the air and also discovered shell casings on the street.
Residents were quickly evacuated as CPS Energy crews responded. Officials said a gas line at a vacant home was struck by a round, causing the leak.
The leak was contained and officials reported no injuries from the incident. No details were yet available on the shooting as it remains under investigation.
