A 53-year-oldwoman is dead after she was hit by a vehicle Sunday night on the North Side.
San Antonio police said the homeless woman was walking near the 1700 block of Austin Highway at around 11:30 p.m. when she was hit by a pickup truck.

The area was dark and the driver wasn’t able to see the woman in time to stop, SAPD said. Police said they don’t believe alcohol was involved.
The driver had stopped to help the woman, but she died at the scene.
There are no criminal charges pending for the driver, police said.
