San Antonio Spurs vs. Pelicans : How to watch, game time, injury report

If the San Antonio Spurs are going to get revenge on the New Orleans Pelicans, they’ll need to do it without about half of their team. After nearly pulling off a shorthanded win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Spurs will be without several key players again when they host Zion Williamson and company Saturday.

In the first meeting between the teams, San Antonio ran out of gas on the second night of a back-to-back, dropping a winnable game by three points in New Orleans. DeMar DeRozan struggled in the game, scoring just eight points on 3-of-12 from the field. Meanwhile, Rudy Gay had one of his best games of the season, scoring 22 and pulling down six boards.

The Spurs had a tough time containing the young nucleus of Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and Lonzo last time around, surrendering 62 points to the trio. Saturday, they’ll be without their best defenders as they look to do a better job against the crafty Pelicans.

While they’ll be without the same five players that missed the last game due to COVID-19 protocols, the Spurs’ leading scorer, DeMar DeRozan, will be making his return against the Pelicans.

The Silver and Black will need all hands on deck to contain New Orleans, including recent G League call-ups Tre Jones and Luka Samanic, the latter of which got his first start on Wednesday.

With the Spurs looking to tread above water without key role players, here’s everything you need to know about Saturday’s matchup.
