San Antonio school districts update cancellations

Harlandale Independent School District announced it will resume classes and all activities on Friday, January 21.

Several San Antonio districts canceled classes on Thursday, January 20 due to the anticipated ice and sleet forecast for Central Texas by the National Weather Service. After having a mostly dry day, local districts have announced schools will return to session on Friday, January 21. 

The National Weather Service previously issued a winter storm watch for San Antonio. NWS expected an icy scenario for Thursday morning through late Thursday night. San Antonio now remains under a winter weather advisory, which is expected to last until 6 a.m. Friday.

Grade K-12

  • Alamo Heights ISD tweeted it has postponed its Winter Pep Rally until Friday, January 28. School is back in session Friday, January 21.
  • Edgewood ISD is back in session Friday, January 21. 
  • Harlandale ISD is back in session Friday, January 21. All athletic events will also continue tomorrow as scheduled.
  • Judson ISD will resume all classes, bus routes, after school events, and extracurricular activities as scheduled. 
  • Lackland ISD will resume classes on Friday, January 21.
  • North East ISD plans to resume normal operations on Friday, January 21
  • NISD schools and offices will resume all regular schedules Friday January 21.
  • San Antonio ISD will resume all classes on Friday, January 21. 
  • San Antonio Academy will reopen on a regular schedule Friday, January 21
  • Somerset ISD will resume operations on Friday, January 21.
  • SWISD will resume all classes and operations as normal tomorrow, January 21.
  • Randolph Field ISD will resume classes on Friday, January 21.
  • South San ISD will resume classes on Friday, January 21. 

Colleges & Universities

  • Alamo Colleges District will have a delayed opening on Friday, January 21. All buildings & services will be closed until 10 a.m.
  • St. Mary’s University campus will return to normal operations on Friday, January 21.
