The pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run incident involving a Tesla on Saturday, March 25, has been identified as Erik Michael Moody, 36, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Moody, a San Antonio resident, was struck by the driver of a Tesla Model 3 while on a sidewalk near S. Alamo Street and Probandt Street after the driver lost control of the vehicle around 1:30 a.m. The driver of the car then crashed into the side of a building, the San Antonio Police Department told MySA.

Law enforcement and medical first responders reportedly pronounced Moody dead at the scene of the accident. His cause of death was determined to be from skull injuries sustained when the car struck him, according to officials with the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver of the Tesla reportedly took off on foot after wrecking their car into the building. Officials say they intend to charge the driver with failure to stop and render aid resulting in a death. The charge is considered to be a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $10,000 worth of fines.

The San Antonio Police Department has released no additional details on the case, such the identity of the driver or a suspect, and the case is ongoing, a representative of the department told MySA.
