San Antonio ‘Daytime’ host Esteban Solis rear-ended car before alleged DWI
On Friday, February 3, news broke about another San Antonio public figure getting arrested in connection with driving while intoxicated. San Antonio Daytime host Esteban Solis was arrested on driving while intoxicated charges after reportedly rear-ending a vehicle just after midnight last Friday. Solis, 41, is a host on KABB’s Daytime with Kimberly and Esteban. Here’s what we know so far:
Officers made contact with Solis at the crash site near Loop 1604 and Culebra Road, according to an arrest report from the San Antonio Police Department. The police officer who responded said Solis had many inconsistencies on what happened in the crash he was involved in. According to the report, Solis rear-ended a vehicle but didn’t know what the car looked like.
Solis reportedly told police he had “two or three mixed drinks,” according to officials. The report stated that the police officer said he was also “slow in speech” and “swaying while standing still.” The report noted that Solis was determined impaired after admitting to drinking and his standardized field sobriety tests.
The driver of the vehicle hit told police they were traveling southbound on W Loop 1604 N when they were rear-ended by Solis. They were evaluated at the scene, the report said. Solis denied a breathalyzer test.
Second offense
Court records indicate that the television host was also arrested in 2006 on a DWI charge. He was sentenced to 50 days in jail.
In Texas, a second DWI offense is a Class A Misdemeanor. The maximum fine is $6,000.00, and the maximum jail sentence is 12 months. A conviction for this offense is permanent, requires a 3-day jail sentence (even if probation is granted), and results in a driver’s license suspension.
Solis was not seen on air on Friday, February 3, or on Monday, February 6. He joined the Sinclair station in 2013. The lifestyle and entertainment show debuted in 2011 as “Daytime at Nine” and was rebranded in 2018 with its current title.
Whether Solis will return to the show is unclear. MySA has reached out to KABB for comment.
