Rudy Gay out vs. Magic with sore heel

This may just be a “rest day” move.

Rudy Gay will miss tonight’s game vs. the Orlando Magic with a sore heel, per ESPN’s Michael C. Wright.

Gay was seen heading to the locker room with the trainers during last night’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans after posting 6 points in 19 minutes. Fortunately, as Wright points out, this might just be a precautionary/rest move on the first back-to-back of the season.

After tearing his Achilles tendon with the Sacramento Kings in January of 2017, Gay missed 25 games with the Spurs last season with bursitis in the same heel, so it understandable that the Spurs will take any precaution necessary with him, especially considering how integral he has been in their fast start this season.

After tonight, the Spurs don’t play again until Wednesday when they visit the Miami Heat.
