Report: The Spurs have conducted a pre-draft workout with Joe Wieskamp

University of Iowa shooting guard Joe Wieskamp had a workout with the San Antonio Spurs last week.

This news comes a day after the NBA announced Wieskamp as one of 69 players expected to attend the NBA Draft Combine 2021 in Chicago via an official press release.

The NBA also announced the 21-year-old wing as one of 353 early entry candidates for the 2021 NBA Draft on June 1.

Wieskamp averaged 14.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game during his junior season at Iowa before declaring for the NBA Draft for a second consecutive year on April 14.

The six-six swingman was among the best sharpshooters in college basketball, draining an astounding 46.2% of his 5.1 three-point attempts per game during the 2020-2021 season.

Wieskamp made the All-Big Ten Conference Second Team, was the second-leading scorer for a Hawkeyes team that finished eighth in the final AP Poll, and has drawn legitimate second-round interest from front offices.

Collegiate players who have applied for early entry have until July 7 to withdraw their name from consideration for the 2021 NBA Draft to retain their NCAA eligibility.

That deadline gives NBA hopefuls a chance to go through the draft combine (June 21-27) and watch the lottery (June 22) unfold before making a final decision on their basketball future.

The 2021 NBA Draft will take place on July 29 at 7 PM CST at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. ESPN and ABC will televise the first round, and the second round will air exclusively on ESPN.
