Report: Houston Texans to sign former Titans wideout to two-year contract
Robert Woods is staying in the AFC South.
The veteran receiver has decided to sign a free agent deal with the Houston Texans, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The insider relayed that Woods is expected to join Houston on a two-year, $15.25 million contract with $10 million fully guaranteed and a max value of $17 million.
Woods, 30, played in all 17 of the Titans’ games last season, a nice rebound campaign in his first year back from a torn ACL. While Woods’ numbers were not impressive (53 receptions for 527 yards and two touchdowns), he is a reliable complementary target given the right situation, as well as one of the top blocking receivers in the NFL.
Woods joins a Texan receivers room headed by Brandin Cooks and young vertical threat Nico Collins. Woods, who was unhappy with his role in Tennessee, should see respectable targets with a rebuilding Houston squad come the fall, though whether the organization can find a quarterback who can consistently get him the ball is an open question.
