REPORT: City And PSG Join Chelsea In Pursuit Of 70M Rated Defender

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are expected to challenge Chelsea for the signature of Leicester defender Wesley Fofana, according to L’Equipe.

The French publication claims the centre-back would be open to leaving the King Power Stadium as he is keen to make a case to be included in France’s World Cup squad.

Fofana has not been handed a senior cap by national team manager Didier Deschamps so far, but a high-profile move and a strong start to the season could help him get a call up for the tournament in Qatar.

Chelsea’s desire to sign a new centre-half is well documented, while PSG are believed to be considering the Leicester player as an alternative to Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.

It is a little harder to work out why City would be interested in Fofana. Manager Pep Guardiola already has four very capable centre-backs and reports in the UK suggest that Leicester will demand at least £70m for their player. It remains to be seen who will step up and make a formal bid.
