Rams star Jalen Ramsey lists Stephon Gilmore among his top five CBs in the NFL

Choosing the top players at any position in the NFL is a difficult task. However, Jalen Ramsey didn’t seem to have a rough time naming his top five cornerbacks in the NFL right now.

The Los Angeles Rams star lumped himself in the top five and named the other four players in the group with him during an appearance on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast.

“This is tough, too, because I’ve got a lot of respect for a lot of DBs because it ain’t really me against them. It’s me against the receiver, so I’ve got a lot of respect for them,” he said. “Everybody’s got their different styles so my top five, off my opinion and my style – like, who I like to watch and even who I would like to team up with if I had the chance: Stephon Gilmore, I like his style. Tre’Davious White, Buffalo Bills. I’ll go Xavien Howard. And I’ll go Jaire Alexander, Green Bay.”

One player that specifically jumps out is Gilmore, who is currently in a contract dispute with the New England Patriots because he is due to be paid just $7 million in 2021.

Gilmore is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, winning the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year award. The 30-year-old has been very vocal on social media about wanting to be paid as such.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Patriots are expected to have contract discussions with Gilmore closer to training camp. However, it’s unclear if they’ll give him an extension or just add more money onto his 2021 contract.

According to Spotrac, Ramsey ($20 million AAV), Marlon Humphrey ($19.5 million AAV) and Tre’Davious White ($17.25 million AAV) are the highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL.

It’s no surprise that Ramsey put Gilmore among his top five cornerbacks. The 26-year-old attempted to recruit the Patriots veteran to Los Angeles in a series of social media posts last month.

However, it was reported earlier this month that Gilmore isn’t expecting to be traded this summer, so a partnership with Ramsey and the Rams seems out of the question at this point.
