Rams DC Raheem Morris: ‘We want to win for Aaron Donald’
Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris may be on the cusp of receiving another opportunity to serve as an NFL head coach, perhaps as soon as next week, but he found himself discussing arguably the greatest player he’ll ever work with during Thursday’s media availability ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game clash with the rival San Francisco 49ers.
Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has made Pro Bowl squads for all eight of his NFL seasons, is a seven-time First-Team All-Pro and is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year who will one day be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. Donald doesn’t yet have a Super Bowl title on his resume, though, and Morris made it clear Thursday he’s keen on changing that next month.
“This building wants to win for Aaron Donald to create more mystique to his legacy and what he’s done,” Morris explained, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “We want to win for Aaron Donald.”
As of Thursday afternoon, FanDuel Sportsbook listed Donald as the favorite among defensive players to earn Super Bowl Most Valuable Player honors at +3000. Those who believe Donald and the Rams will do more than just get by the 49ers may not want to wait to take advantage of those odds.
