Raiders Making Shocking NFL Draft Strategy Move

The Las Vegas Raiders could go in a number of directions with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. There have been some rumors about Las Vegas being interested in moving up in the draft to put them in a position to select a quarterback. One team that could be a trade partner in that scenario is the Arizona Cardinals, who select third.

If they stay pat and the board falls in a way that a quarterback drops, they will certainly show some interest in selecting them. But, another popular position that the Raiders have targeted in mock drafts is cornerback.

With Rock Ya-Sin still a free agent, the team could definitely use a boost in their secondary. Christian Gonzalez, Devon Witherspoon and Joey Porter Jr. are all options to be the first cornerback off the board.

While pinpointing exactly who the Raiders will select is tough, we have an idea of who they will not be selecting. According to JPAFootball on Twitter, Las Vegas has reportedly taken Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter off of their draft board.

This is a major change and sign of growth when it comes to the franchise. Recent history of players having run-ins with the law has the Raiders adjusting their pre-draft plans when it comes to certain players.

Henry Ruggs III and Damon Arnette are the most recent names. Both were selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and both were out of the league in 2021 because of separate incidents.
