Kylian Mbappe has been named as the most valuable player in world football – with only two Premier League players making the top ten.

Football Benchmark have compiled a list of the ten most valuable players in the world, with the Paris Saint-Germain and France star topping the list with a market value of £176million.

Erling Haaland is second on the list at £160m after a stunning debut season for Man City in which he has scored 42 goals in 37 games across all competitions.

His Man City team-mate Phil Foden is the only other Premier League player to make the list in fifth at £122m – despite six players making the list back in October.

There is no place on the list for Bukayo Saka, despite his excellent season which has helped put Arsenal in contention to win their first Premier League title in 19 years.

The likes of Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, Martin Odegaard  and Bruno Fernandes have also been snubbed in the list from Football Benchmark.

None of those players therefore are said to be worth more than £89m – the amount given to Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni who rounds off the list.

Foden is one of two English players to make the list, with Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham completing the top three on £133m.

The two Premier League players to make the list is a big drop from Benchmark Football’s valuations from October last year in which six made the top ten.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mason Mount, Kane and Fernandes were all part of that list and have now dropped out.

Kane and Fernandes are perhaps unfortunate to drop out of the top ten, though there is no surprise over Alexander-Arnold and Mount who have endured frustrating seasons for their respective clubs.

The new rankings from Football Benchmark see LaLiga overtake the Premier League as the best represented division in their top ten list.

The highest of their representatives is Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr in fourth, and he is joined by his team-mates Federico Valverde and Tchouameni, as well as highly-rated Barcelona starlets Gavi and Pedri.

Both the Premier League and Bundesliga have two players, with Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala representing the German division alongside Bellingham.

Real Madrid are also the best represented team with three players, ahead of Man City and Barcelona who both have two.

However, there is no place inside the top ten for any player from the Serie A.
