Premier League Are Continuing Investigation Into City’s Financial Fairplay Rule Breaches

The Premier League have not closed their case into Financial Fairplay rule breaches by Manchester City, according to reports in England.

An investigation was originally begun two years ago when leaks, published by German newspaper Der Spiegel, revealed details of the Citizens’ financial dealings which suggested that the Manchester club were trying to circumvent FFP regulations.

City defended themselves against the allegations at the time, saying the emails and documents in question were taken out of context and used to portray the club in a poor light.

UEFA subsequently handed out a ban from European competitions after finding City guilty of breaching rules, but that decision was later quashed in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Premier League have refused to provide the media with updates on the progress of their investigation, as they don’t comment on open cases, so we shall see whether anything comes of it in the coming months.
