Open Thread: Should the Spurs guarantee Brandon Paul’s contract?
The Illinois native holds the last available roster spot in the 2018-19 season
Now that the ink on the contracts has begun to dry, let’s take a look at the Spurs current roster:
Point guards: Dejounte Murray, Patty Mills
PG/SG: Derrick White, Bryn Forbes
Shooting guards: DeMar DeRozan, Manu Ginobili, Brandon Paul, Lonnie Walker IV
Swingman: Marco Belinelli
Small forwards: Rudy Gay, Dante Cunningham
Power forwards: LaMarcus Aldridge, Davis Bertans
Centers: Pau Gasol, Jakob Poeltl
That’s a pretty solid, well-rounded set of players. That said, the Spurs are now set with all 15 roster spots. Although there are two remaining two-way contracts (fingers crossed for Jaron Blossomgame) although they did make a qualifying offer to Darrun Hilliard on June 28.
What do you think, Spurs fans: should the Spurs keep Brandon Paul on the roster for 2018-19? His contract does not become guaranteed until August 1st giving the Spurs just ten days to determine if Paul stays. In 64 games last season, the Fighting Illini averaged 2.3 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.6 assists.
