Open Thread: Pau Gasol pushing himself to start this season

Always a professional, he will do whatever it takes

Well, it looks like Pau Gasol is ready to go this season:

And in typical star fashion, he wants to start. He believes he can start. And he will push himself to do so.

I’m always going to demand a lot of myself, I’m going to push my limits and I’m not going to sell myself short.

In a moment possibly addressing those who have questioned his large late career payday, he specifically mentioned his salary and earning what he is paid.

My mindset is to set the bar high and push myself to be the best that I can be, that is why they pay me the big bucks as well. I’m not on a minimum contract at this point and I will live up to it.

That said, when asked about whether he would start or come off the bench, the Spaniard mentioned he is willing to come off the bench if that’s what is necessary of him.

I always want to start. I’ve started my entire career. But…if the team needs me to come of the bench and assume that role, I will.

And that’s what makes Pau a Spur.
