For the NBA, COVID-19 continues to hit too close to home
The NBA was the first major sport to suspend their season. They were also the first to report a case of COVID-19 among the players. A few more admissions of coronavirus followed as teams began to privately test their respective staffs.
And now a casualty due to complications due to coronavirus affected Minnesota Timberwolves’ star Karl-Anthony Towns as he lost his mother yesterday.
The NBA family mourns the passing of Jacqueline Cruz, loving mother to Karl-Anthony Towns.
Jacqueline was beloved around the NBA and a great source of strength and inspiration for her family.

There are no words to comfort someone in a time like this. But those who know him best as a competitor have been reaching out. Wishes, prayers, and love pour from throughout the NBA.

Love and support. Love and support. There’s really nothing else to say in a situation like this, expect “sorry”. We are here for you and hope there is light at the end of this tunnel.
