Open Thread: Even chicken tenders couldn’t get Manu to play another year

Nico Ginobili protests his father’s retirement

Yesterday Manu Ginobili held a press conference. The first since his retirement. Our own Bruno Passos was there and posted on the event. One piece of his conference was enlightening. His son did not want the legendary shooting guard to retire.

“When we asked the kids what did they think, if they were excited that Dad is not gonna be traveling as much, that we were gonna be able to go to Argentina, they said, ‘yeah’. But . . . he said, ‘I don’t want you to retire, Dad.’ [Manu asked,] ‘Why?’ ‘Well, the chicken tenders in the family room are awesome.’”

When the protests of one-and-half-million San Antonians — not tomention nearly 44 milion Argentines — could not keep Manu in a jersey, appeal to the child’s need for AT&T Center chicken tenders.

What more could we offer? I personally would have backed up a Tyson truck for Uno Mas.
