Open Thread: Cameron Reynolds joins the Spurs training roster

There are not an abundance of new faces gracing the Spurs training camp roster. As Marilyn reported yesterday, the roster features twelve of last season’s fifteen man roster as well as Drew Eubanks (last year’s two-way player), Quinndary Weatherspoon (returning as a two-way player) and 2020 draftees Devin Vassell and Tre Jones. Keita Bates-Diop, who picked up this season’s second two-way, is also on the roster.

The newest name to the list is swingman Cam Reynolds.

The undrafted Tulane Green Wave spent his first season with Sacramento’s G-League affiliate, the Stockton Kings. The 6’7” Texas native averaged sixteen points in his thirty-three games.

Last February Reynolds signed a 10-day contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The T-Wolves signed him for the rest of the season where he averaged five points through his thirteen games. He was waived by Minnesota in June.

As one can tell, Reynolds is not afraid to left it fly from three and shows muscle on defense.

In July he signed with a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks and played with the Wisconsin Herd, starting in thirty-seven of his thirty-eight games and averaging 14.4 points.

Cameron may not be destined to sign with the Spurs as San Antonio is already guard heavy. With both two-way contracts spoken for, Reynolds may be passing through to showcase his skills before signing elsewhere.

That said, his athleticism, versatility, and dedication may make it hard to cut him loose.
