Open Thread: A song for the Spurs

I rarely miss a Spurs game. At the least, I stay up and watch the night’s game before bed. Unfortunately, a 9:00 pm start in Salt Lake City paired with a 5:00 a.m. wake up call means something has got to give.

I normally don’t mind going to work tired, but tomorrow is the first of three days of Texas state testing and I cannot be tired and playing catch up for the rest of the week as a result. As it stands, the Spurs are down by seventeen 43-60, which seems an apropos smack in the face since I coined the “Spurs By 17!” years ago.

It doesn’t help that the Spurs are on a losing streak. It doesn’t help that I was unable to watch Friday’s game in Boston (my family made their first pandemic road trip) and I got two messages “Spurs up by 32!” and “never mind, they blew it.” It doesn’t help . . . but it doesn’t hurt either, because these are the Spurs.

I root for the Spurs when they are up, and I cheer them on when they are down. A true Spurs fan will be there through thick and thin. So tonight, I go to bed early for self-preservation, but tomorrow night I finish watching the Utah game as well as the Boston game.

Good night, Spurs, I leave you with a song that fits the moment.

It’s May the 4th, so May the 4th be with you, Star Wars/Spurs crossover fans.
