There is still a way to experience San Antonio despite the coronavirus pandemic shutdowns.

VisitSanAntonio.com is hosting a way to discover the Alamo City digitally by curating online offerings of local arts and culture, attractions and restaurants. The collection also features DIY demonstrations and downloadables to bring the best of San Antonio inside your home.

The city’s tourism division made the site a hub for ways residents and visitors can interact with museums digitally like the Witte. For example, the nature, science and culture museum has created a series of “Witte Where You Are” videos during the era of social distancing. Seventeen episodes have been produced so far. The San Antonio Museum of Art, DoSeum and McNay are also included.

The page also has links to online tours of places like the San Antonio Zoo and the Natural Bridge Caverns.

Visit San Antonio also released a video campaign touting everything that makes San Antonio a “shining jewel,” encouraging visitors to return “when all is right” in their world.

Local tourism is one of the many areas hit hard by the outbreak. The drop in retail sales, hotel room bookings, flights to San Antonio International Airport and events at city facilities like the Alamodome and Convention Center has spurred a “catastrophic” $100.9 million loss in revenue to the city, Deputy City Manager María Villagómez told the city council on April 9.
