Tottenham labor in Carabao Cup win as #nunoout trends on Twitter
It was hardly a night to write home about for Nuno Espírito Santo’s

outfit as the north London side traveled to Burnley and came away with all three points at Turf Moor in their 1-0 Carabao Cup fourth round win against Sean Dyche’s Clarets.
But despite the securing passage into the quarterfinals of the cup competition and possible dates with Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester City, Liverpool, West Ham, and Brentford, questions have been asked on social media about Nuno’s tenure at the club thus far after replacing José Mourinho.
Tottenham failed to register any shots on target against Burnley in the first 45-minutes of action tonight, picking up where they left off from the weekend in their 1-0 loss at West Ham when Spurs failed to produce a single effort in the second half against David Moyes’ outfit.
What it’s like watching spurs…
Absolutely shocking. No shots in the 2nd half.

Given the poor performance on the night in conjunction with form in the Premier League to the tune of four losses in their last-six outings, #nunoout began to trend on Twitter before the match came to an end.
Regardless of the score line today my opinion on nuno and the board has not changed #NunoOut #ENICOut #LevyOut

With frustrations mounting amongst the fanbase regarding stale football, a tactical approach that doesn’t suit the type of players on offer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the club rapidly falling away from their lofty ambitions to push for the top places in the Premier League, many fans have hit the wall and want Tottenham to part ways with the Portuguese headmaster.
NES above his head
Overachieving with a side like Wolves that are not bound by bigger expectations is all well and good, but for Nuno Espírito Santo to successfully make the leap to Tottenham – a club with far greater ambitions of becoming one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League – more is required on a tactical level.
It is certainly a fair assessment to draw that Spurs are hardly playing to their strengths when in possession, especially given some of the talent Nuno is able to wield in his match day XI’s.
But after nine league fixtures and just nine goals scored (while surrendering thirteen at the other end), there is no doubt that Spurs are a shadow of what the fans – and board – were hoping the club to become under the reign of the Portuguese manager.
This has now become a situation where sticking to your principles and hoping they take root like novocain to the system will not serve Nuno in good stead. Unless something changes with how Tottenham operate on the pitch, this could well be a very short stint in the English capital.
