San Antonio has lost another fun annual event in the COVID-19 era.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo canceled its carnival and fairgrounds due to the rise of coronavirus cases in Bexar County, according to San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo spokesperson Lauren Sides.

The livestock, horse shows and Charreada will still take place.

“The health and safety of our community is of utmost importance, and we greatly appreciate the support and understanding of the community as we navigate these unprecedented times,” Cody Davenport, executive director and CEO of the show, said in a statement. “We look forward to a successful Rodeo and livestock show in order to generate funds to educate future generations.”

Organizers of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo have made several changes to its festival this year due to pandemic, including downsizing its venue and limiting its ticket sales. The organizers also canceled its Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive.

Sides said more information will be provided soon regarding the carnival and fairgrounds.
