Micah Parsons wants Cowboys to stomp out Packers

The Dallas Raid-ers?

Micah Parsons will need some roach spray on the Cowboys’ trip to Green Bay as they try to fend off an ugly adversary that can be a nuisance if they it let linger.

Parsons described his mentality heading into Sunday’s game by relaying words passed down from his grandmother.

Per Yahoo! Sports, Parsons said, “My grandma told me, ‘If you see a roach and it’s fooling around, do you step on it and bury it or do you let it rebuild and get back to life?'”

Green Bay (3-6) has dropped five in a row and hit a low point last week. Against the league-worst Detroit Lions defense, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense scored just nine points.

The Cowboys defense ranks third in points allowed per game (16.6) and 10th in total yards (313.5). Per Football Outsiders, the Dallas defense ranks first in DVOA. Parsons leads the Cowboys in sacks (8) and tackles for loss (9).

Former coach Jimmy Johnson called these Cowboys the best team he’s seen in Dallas, thanks in large part to Parsons.

Dallas (6-2) looks primed for a return to the postseason. Even with the success, the Mike McCarthy era has been defined more by clock management blunders than winning. A victory over McCarthy’s former team will be a statement win for Dallas even with Green Bay being the weakest it’s been in years.

Traditionally, as soon as the Cowboys show promise they pull the rug out from under their supporters. It’s fair to curb enthusiasm over the Cowboys’ start, but Parsons hopes to prove any doubters wrong.

The stakes remain high for Dallas. A loss to Green Bay will be a sign that these are the same Cowboys as they’ve been for years. A win will show the team’s newly adopted killer instinct. After years of fooling around, the Cowboys may have rebuilt themselves into a championship contender.
